What to Look for in an Interior Decorator<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019re\nnot just going to pay someone to come into your home and decorate<\/a> for you\nwithout you knowing what\u2019s going on. A good decorator will show give you a detailed\nplan, which will include factors such as space, lighting, time, and ultimately\nof course, the cost of the project and materials that will need to be in place\n(furniture, etc.). You want a decorator who\u2019s honest about prices\nand when you are getting an item (such as carpet or furniture), you don\u2019t want\nto have to pay extra just so the interior decorator gets more profit per item\nthan you pay. Flat-rate decorators usually give themselves a commission based\noff of what they need to get for you, and then shop cheap to get the most money\nin their pockets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What you DO Want in a Decorator<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You\ndon\u2019t have to decide on a decorator just because someone has that title. Bring\nin a few different decorators to \u201cshop around\u201d by letting them see your home,\nand telling them what you\u2019d like to see changed, and they can find out things\nthat you do and don\u2019t like. If they don\u2019t ask you these questions, then you may\nnot want to hire them. You want to at least be able to give a good decorator a\ngeneral idea about your style sense so they know how to do a job that is\nsatisfactory to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once\nyour decorator is hired, and the changes start.
