To keep your pool looking great and\nfunctioning for many years, you may need to do some pool resurfacing<\/a>. When it\u2019s time to do this,\nmost people go with plaster because it\u2019s easy to install and inexpensive.\nHowever, while it is<\/em> easy on the\nwallet, there are some negatives you should know about that may make you think\nabout other options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first negative aspect with plaster is that\nit lacks durability, meaning you may have to replace it in as little as 7\nyears. Additionally, plaster doesn\u2019t wear well and develops cracks and tears\neasily, which means you\u2019re going to be putting in a lot of repairs often. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One advantage fiberglass has is that it\u2019s the\nleast expensive of all the materials we\u2019re going to look at. While it\u2019s not the\nmost durable, if you maintain it properly and take care of it, there\u2019s no\nreason it shouldn\u2019t last a long time. In addition, fiberglass is easy to clean\nand won\u2019t affect the chemical makeup of the water, which means less work\nmaintaining water quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stone\n& Pebble<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Many people opt for stone or pebble aggregate\nbecause it creates a natural, unique look that stands out. What\u2019s nice about\nthis material is that you can choose from a variety of colors and styles to\nmatch your backyard d\u00e9cor and landscaping. However, the downside to this\nmaterial is that it\u2019s expensive; it can be up to two times more expensive than\nplaster. But it\u2019s not all negative, because with the high price you also get a\nhighly durable material that\u2019s going to last a up to 20 years with proper care\nand maintenance. Lastly, because the surface is rough, it provides better\ntraction, which is important if you have little ones who like to run around the\npool. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quartz<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Next to plaster, quartz is popular because\nit\u2019s durable and looks great. Many estimates say that quartz can last up to 15\nyears, which is about twice as long as plaster. Another advantage to quartz is\nthe wide variety of colors available; deep blues and purples create the\nillusion of a deep lake or lagoon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tile<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tile is probably the most expensive material\non this list, not so much for the material itself but because of the labor\nrequired for installation. However, while tile is expensive, it\u2019s one of the\nmost durable and long lasting materials you can use. Also, tile is extremely\neasy to maintain, which means less work for you.
